Teaching plan for Lesson 63
Get the Ss to ask each other questions: Which season do you like best? Which season do you like better, spring or summer? Why? Do you like winter? Why (not)? While the Ss are discussing about the different seasons, you may join in the discussion by using Wang Wei’s words in her letter. Explain the new words and expressions by gesture or translation, and write them down on the Bb. For example, when a student says that he/she likes summer best, you may say I like summer, too. It is the warmest season. It often rains. Sometimes it rains quite heavily, etc. After the discussion, revise the new words and expressions on the Bb.
Step 5 Reading
Sb page 63. Speech Cassette Lesson 63. Ask the Ss What did Wang Wei write about in her letter? Get them to read the letter quickly to find the answer. Then the Ss read the letter more slowly. Ask them some questions from Wb Lesson 63, Ex.1. Finally, play the tape as a model for the Ss to practise reading aloud. First in group, then individual Ss.

Step 6 Presentation
Tell the Ss to look at Wang Wei’s address. Point out that the address in English starts with the smallest element the room) and ends with the biggest (the city or province). Look at Wb Lesson 63, Ex. 2 and make a comparison. Write the school address on the Bb. Then get some Ss to write their address on the Bb. Make sure they write their address correctly.
Point out the position of the address, date and Wang Wei’s name in her letter.
