Students will get the main idea and the detailed information by listening. b. Students will read the passage to get the detailed information and the main idea by skimming and scanning. c. Students will speak out the topic after discussing. 2. Emotion and attitude Students will develop confidence in reading. II. Teaching important and difficult points a. Have a better understanding of these passages by listening and reading. b. How to get the main idea and detailed information. c. Guide the students to organize and speak out the topic. III. Teaching Aids Multimedia IV. Teaching Approach Student-centered, task-based approach, formative evaluation V. Learning way Skimming , scanning, communicating, discussing, co-operating VI. Assessment Teacher—students, students---students VII. Teaching Procedures Part 1 Lead-in(by asking the following questions 2 minutes Do you like music? Why? Can you tell me some Chinese bands in China? Have you heard of “animal bands”? Part 2 Listening teaching 15 minutes Task 1 Discuss Exercise 2 and know the meaning. Task 2 Listen to the tape to get the main idea. Listen to the tape, and students will discuss and check themselves. Some individual students answer. Teacher checks. Task 3 Listen to complete Exercise 4 For the first time, write down the answers. Discuss the answers in groups. Some students will answer and Teacher shows the answer. T plays the tape to help the students to check the answers while showing the listening text. Part 3 Reading teaching 12 minutes Task 1 Skim the title and the first sentences of each paragraphs to predict the main idea. Task 2 Scan the text to answer the following questions. What’s the most exciting invitation for the band? Why couldn’t the band go out? Why did they leave the Britain? Task 3 Finish a summary. Part 4 Speaking teaching 11 minutes T ask 1 Preparing 4 minutes Discuss in groups according to Exercise 1 on P39. Communicate in groups. Task 2 Speaking 7 minutes Part 5 Homework Write a short passage about your band within 100 words or so.
